Purpose of Visit

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for tourism purposes.

The Tourist Visa "TR" has 2 categories: SINGLE ENTRY and MULTIPLE ENTRY.

Required Documents

Tourist Visa applicants must provide the following documents with a completed Visa Application Form:

SINGLE ENTRY

1. A passport or travel document recognised by Thailand with validity of 6 months or more from expected date of arrival.
2. A photocopy of biographic page of passport or travel document.
3. A passport size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken within last six (6) months without glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted).
4. Evidence of adequate finance during period of stay in Thailand (at least 20,000 Baht per person). A photocopy of bank statement or other form of funds (credit cards not accepted).
5. A valid airline ticket or travel itinerary confirming date of arrival in and departure from Thailand.

MULTIPLE ENTRY

1. A valid passport or travel document recognised by Thailand with validity of 6 months or more from expected date of arrival.
2. A photocopy of biographic page of passport or travel document.
3. A passport size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken within last six (6) months without glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted).
4. Evidence of adequate finance (no less than 2000,000 Baht or $8,000.00 AUD).
5. A verification letter signed by the employer or universities.
6. Plane ticket paid in full for the first visit to Thailand and itinerary for the second visit.
7. Confirmed accommodation for the duration of the first stay in Thailand.
8. If applicant is not a Papua New Guinea citizen, proof of Papua New Guinea permanent resident visa is required.

Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents or information as deemed necessary.

Validity of Visa

SINGLE ENTRY: The validity of a visa is three (3) months from the date of issue.
MULTIPLE ENTRY: The validity of a visa is six (6) months from the date of issue.

Validity of Stay

A Tourist visa is valid for a stay not exceeding 60 days.

Visa Fee

SINGLE ENTRY: PGK 140.00 per application.
MULTIPLE ENTRY: PGK 695.00 per application.

Payment may be made either by cash or bank cheque (payable to Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General). Visa fees are payable in local Kina currency and are subject to change without notice. Visa fees are non-refundable.

Extension

An extension of stay for an additional 30 days can be requested. Applicants may file an application at:

The extension of stay as well as the change in the type of visa is solely at the discretion of the immigration officer.

General Rules and Regulations

• The Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General will only accept complete applications.
• Visa applications with incomplete documentation will not be processed until all documentation is provided. All applicants must apply at least seven (7) days prior to their travel.
• Complete applications take three (3) business days to process, not including the day that you lodge.
• Each application is considered on its individual merit and may be rejected without any reason provided.

Notice About Visas

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT:

A visa does not guarantee entry into Thailand. It however simply indicates that your application has been reviewed by a consular officer and that he or she has determined you are eligible to enter the country for a specific purpose and permitted time. This visa allows you to travel to Thailand as far as the port of entry and ask the Immigration officer to allow you to enter the Kingdom. ONLY THE IMMGRATION OFFICER HAS THE AUTHORITY TO PERMIT YOU TO ENTER THAILAND AND TO DETERMINE THE DURATION OF YOUR STAY.
