Education Visa (Non-Immigrant Visa Category "ED")
Purpose of Visit
This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom to study, to come on a work study tour or observation tour, to participate in project or to attend a conference or training course, to study as a foreign Buddhist monk (Category “ED).
Required Documents
Non-Immigrant Visa applicants must provide the following documents with a completed Visa Application Form:
- A passport or travel document recognised by Thailand with validity of 6 months or more from expected date of arrival.
- A photocopy of biographic page of passport or travel document.
- A passport size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken within last six (6) months without glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted).
- A letter from your employer stating your position, length of employment, date and purpose of visit.
- An invitation from concerned company/organization in Thailand indicating length of stay and purpose of your visit.
- A valid airline ticket or travel itinerary confirming date of arrival in and departure from Thailand.
- If applicant is not a Papua New Guinea citizen, proof of Papua New Guinea permanent residency visa is required.
Additional documentation must be provided according to the purpose of visit:
EDUCATION
- Letter of acceptance from the concerned schools/universities or institutes in Thailand indicating length of stay and your field of study;
- A copy of school’s profile, registration or license in Thailand;
- Approved letter from Office of the Private Education Commission (only for the private schools);
- If applicant is not a Papua New Guinea citizen, a copy of Papua New Guinea visa.
- Additional Information: If you wish to attend an educational conference, seminar or workshop in Thailand, you may apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa “ED” with a SINGLE ENTRY.
INTERNSHIP
- A letter from your employer stating your position, length of employment, date and purpose of visit;
- An invitation letter from concerned company or organization in Thailand indicating length of stay and purpose of your visit;
- A copy of concerned organization’s registration or license in Thailand.
- Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents or information as deemed necessary.
Validity of Visa
- SINGLE ENTRY: The validity of a visa is three (3) months from the date of issue.
- MULTIPLE ENTRY: The validity of a visa is 12 months from the date of issue.
Validity of Stay
Travellers will be permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 90 days.
Visa Fee
- SINGLE ENTRY: PGK 280.00 per application.
- MULTIPLE ENTRY: PGK 695.00 per application.
Payment may be made either by cash or bank cheque (payable to Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General). Visa fees are payable in local Kina currency and are subject to change without notice. Visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome or withdrawal of a visa application.
Extension
An extension of stay may be requested. Applicants may file an application at:

The extension of stay as well as the change in the type of visa is solely at the discretion of the immigration officer.
General Rules and Regulations
- The Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General will only accept complete applications.
- Visa applications with incomplete documentation will not be processed until all documentation is provided. All applicants must apply at least seven (7) days prior to their travel.
- Complete applications take three (3) business days to process, not including the day that you lodge.
- Each application is considered on its individual merit and may be rejected without any reason provided.

SPOUSE & FAMILY VISA (NON-IMMIGRANT VISA CATEGORY "O")
Purpose of Visit
This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to visit their Thai family.
There are two categories of Non-Immigrant "O" Visa: SINGLE ENTRY and MULTIPLE ENTRIES.
Required Documents
Non-Immigrant Visa applicants must provide the following documents with a completed Visa Application Form:
- A passport or travel document recognised by Thailand with validity of 6 months or more from expected date of arrival.
- A photocopy of biographic page of passport or travel document.
- A passport size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken within last six (6) months without glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted).
- If you are a former Thai citizen, proof of Thai citizenship such as Thai passport or Thai I.D. card;
- If you want to visit as a spouse or family member (son or daughter) of Thai citizen, proof of relationship such as marriage certificate or birth certificate is required;
- A letter from your spouse or family member verifying the current status of relationship together with their Thai I.D. card. and house registration;
- A valid airline ticket or travel itinerary confirming date of arrival in and departure from Thailand.
- If applicant is not a Papua New Guinea citizen, proof of Papua New Guinea permanent residency visa is required.

Purpose of Visit
This type of visa is issued to applicants, who wish to enter the Kingdom for business purposes, such as attending a conference or training session, and conducting business negotiation.
Required Documents
Non-Immigrant Visa applicants must provide the following documents with a completed Visa Application Form:
SINGLE ENTRY

This type of visa is issued to applicants, who wish to visit their business associate or their own factory/company in Thailand.
- A passport or travel document recognised by Thailand with validity of 6 months or more from expected date of arrival.
- A photocopy of biographic page of passport or travel document.
- A passport size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken within last six (6) months without glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted).
- A letter from your employer stating your position, length of employment, date and purpose of visit.
- An invitation letter from concerned company or organization in Thailand indicating length of stay and purpose of your visit.
- A copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour of Thailand and alien income tax or Por Njor Dor 91 (Only in the case where applicant has previously worked in Thailand).
- A letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour of Thailand. To obtain this letter, the applicant’s prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour of Thailand or at the Provincial Employment Office in his or her respective province. This letter is required if the applicant does not have a valid working permit in Thailand.
- A copy of corporate documents of associated partners/company in Thailand such as:
- Business Registration and License
- List of Shareholders

- MULTIPLE ENTRY: The validity of a visa is 12 months from the date of issue.
Validity of Stay
- SINGLE ENTRY: Travellers will be permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 90 days
- MULTIPLE ENTRY: Travellers will be permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 90 days for each visit unless he/she has a valid working permit in Thailand.

SINGLE ENTRY
- A passport or travel document recognised by Thailand with validity of 6 months or more from expected date of arrival.
- A photocopy of biographic page of passport or travel document.
- A passport size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken within last six (6) months without glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted).
- A letter of acceptance from your employer in Thailand;
- A copy of your work contract;
- A copy of your employer’s business registration or license in Thailand;
- A valid airline ticket or travel itinerary confirming date of arrival in and departure from Thailand.
- If applicant is not a Papua New Guinea citizen, proof of Papua New Guinea permanent residency visa is required.
Additional documents required for TEACHER IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS - Single Entry Only:
- A letter of approval from Thai government agencies such as the Office of the Private Commission of the Office of the Basic Commission.
- Both applicant’s resume and a copy of al qualification such as certificate of or teaching certificates.
MULTIPLE ENTRY
- A passport or travel document recognised by Thailand with validity of 6 months or more from expected date of arrival.
- A photocopy of biographic page of passport or travel document.
- A passport size photograph (3.5x4.5cm) taken within last six (6) months without glasses or headgear (photocopy not accepted).
